Making it real

Its official - the NACC will become a reality

The School of Arts’ team responsible for progressing the Narooma Arts & Community Centre (NACC) has not stopped grinning since hearing we would receive a $7.27m grant from the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery (BLER) Fund on behalf of our community to fund the cost of the NACC’s construction. The plan is to open its doors to the community in the second half of 2023.

everyone is absolutely thrilled and congratulations have come from far and wide

Narooma School of Arts President Jenni Bourke said.

“ The NACC with its three multi-use studios/rooms and gallery will be the heart of our community for everyone to use, young and old, and it will enrich our wider community well into the future,” Jenni said.

“What’s so fantastic is it’s a community initiative to meet long term needs identified by our community and has been extensively thought through for more than 10 years.

At this stage, it’s really important to acknowledge the many people who have worked so hard towards this vision over the years, including our architect CK Architecture.”

The NACC is a centre for imagination, learning and inclusiveness. The aim is to deliver a diverse range of activities across visual art, music, film making, dance, yoga, meditation, or the written word for example. A feature of the centre will be the professional exhibitions space. It is also a site that has the potential to support the community in times of crises as a potential gathering point.
